Our Level 3 AET course (Level 3 Award in Education and Training) is an Ofqual-recognised qualification (RQF 601/1636/5) designed for those who want to teach or train adults in the workplace, further education, or community settings.
Delivered online through iLearner, the course combines flexible study with expert assessor support and clear guidance for your assignments and micro-teach. It’s ideal for new or aspiring trainers, career changers, and in-house facilitators who want a nationally recognised teaching qualification.
Who the Course Is For
The Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) is designed for anyone interested in teaching or training adults in the workplace, community, or further education settings.
It’s ideal if you are:
You don’t need previous teaching experience, just enthusiasm, good communication skills, and a willingness to learn.
Entry Requirements
You must be aged 19 or above and able to complete written tasks in English.
The course does not require teaching hours, making it a perfect starting point for those entering education and training for the first time.
Access to a computer, internet connection, and basic digital skills are required for online study.
What You’ll Learn on the Level 3 AET Course (Online)
The Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) includes three key units designed to give you the skills and confidence to teach, train, and support adult learners effectively.
You’ll explore inclusive practice, session planning, assessment methods, professional boundaries, and feedback techniques that align with national teaching standards.

Micro-Teach Explained
As part of the Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET), you’ll plan and deliver a structured micro-teach session to demonstrate your teaching skills.
You must deliver a minimum 15-minute teaching session that is observed and assessed. In addition, you must be involved in at least 60 minutes of microteaching activity overall, in line with the qualification specification.
This can be completed online and observed by your assessor. Where learners are already delivering teaching in the workplace, this may form part of the requirement. For new or aspiring teachers, structured microteaching sessions are arranged as part of the course.
We provide clear templates, examples and supportive feedback so you know exactly what “good” looks like before delivery.
How Long Is the Micro-Teach?
The qualification requires a minimum 15-minute observed teaching session and at least 60 minutes total microteaching involvement. At Karen Blake Coaching, we guide you step-by-step so you feel fully prepared before delivering your session.
Assessment & Certification
Assessment for the Level 3 AET course is practical, flexible, and fully supported by your assessor.
You’ll complete a series of written tasks mapped directly to each unit, supported by clear assignment guidance. You’ll also take part in a micro-teach session to demonstrate your teaching and facilitation skills.
Throughout the course, your assessor provides detailed feedback to help you meet each criterion confidently. Once all work is verified through internal quality assurance (IQA), you’ll receive your nationally recognised certificate from iCQ, an Ofqual-regulated awarding body.
Typical completion time is 6 – 12 weeks, but you can study at your own pace.
